The Crow Sword

Crow Sword is a +4 short sword (double damage vs. demons, undead and Cthulhy Mythos monsters) that belonged to Vynth Raven, infamous witch hunter that spent his last years of life in the Raven's Gate. Many people believe that sword is hidden somewhere in the gate tower. Here are some ideas about it:
  1. Sword is hidden on some roof truss on the top level of the tower.
  2. Sword was walled in the chamber once occupied by Vynth Raven.
  3. Artifact was buried with Raven in the small, forgotten crypt beneath tower's courtyard.
  4. Artifact never existed - Vynth Raven never possessed a magical sword.
  5. Sword is hidden in the dungeon beneath the tower.
  6. Crow Sword is currently owned by Keznar Gormn, current supervisor of the Raven's Gate.

Underworld Kingdom.

As you probably know, I'm struggling with writing the Underworld Kingdom for quite a few years. Yesterday a new idea came to my mind - probably I will not release it as one big book / PDF but several smaller pieces. There are several reasons why I want to release it in such form:
  • Modular design - books containing only particular information (such as spells or monsters or hex maps w/ descriptions) should be much easier to plug into ongoing campaigns. And of course if someone doesn't want to buy my maps and descriptions (or spells, or monsters...), he will be not forced to do so.
  • Price - quite obvious factor - it should be much cheaper to obtain than one big book. I think that they will be available for something about the price set for my Towers of Krshal ($3,50). In addition, some of them will be available for free!
  • Ease of writing - this one is extremely important for me. Thinking "okay, six more pages should be enough" is much better than "okay, sixty more pages should be enough", much easier to complete.
  • Ease of adding new stuff - I may add new booklet at any moment, without need of reworking entire chapters. Another factor that may have great impact on my writing ability :-)
At the moment, I can announce some basic booklets:
  • Explorers of the Unknown - basic information about creating the character and commentaries about it. NOTE: this one will be available for free and I'll try to release it in February (or maybe even this month!)
  • Dark Gods, Dark Magic - spells, deities and demonic entities. This one is complete but I want to add some more goodies - rumor tables, keywords and commentaries.
  • Untold Monstrosities and Eldritch Artifacts - monsters and magic items. Same as above - I want to add more!
Aaand some ideas about further ones. I can't promise anything about them yet, not even the titles and content:
  • Kradia Caves - two layers of human caves. Not very safe (my games were in the Lower Kradia) but not as murderous as the...
  • ...Jungle Caves - dinosaur-infested stuff!
  • Palace of the Black Emperor - bizarre and enormous palatial complex ruled by some mysterious, demonic being.
  • Deeper Caves - darkest, most obscure and most deadly caverns (incl. the Green Light Caves and so on).
  • Ho-ru - booklet about the Black Lizardmen.
Tell me what you think about it.

Tank Dog!

Tank Dogs are enormous monsters, created with Black Magic from giant, mutated chihuahuas and Jagdpanthers.

No. Appearing: 1-3
AC: 2
Movement: 100/200/400
HD: 11
% in lair: nil
Treasure type: nil

Each round, Tank Dog can either bite (for 1-10 damage) or shoot its 88mm cannon (2km range, 3-60 damage, ignores AC). Tank dogs are immune to all kinds of psychological effects (except the very rare MU5 spell Control Tank Dog) and due to heavy armor can't be harmed by any weapons worse than +3 or anti-tank weapons (such as Holy Bludgeon of Tank Slaying).

It's done.

Bandits and Battlecruisers PDF is ready. It has 137 A5-sized pages (remember one of my first posts about it when I assumed that it will have about 50-70 pages? :D). It's possible that we will release it even tomorrow.

Why they abandoned it?

Ten reasons why the building / fortification / village / town was left by its inhabitants. Prepare your dice.
  1. They were killed by a plague (there's 25% chance that they became the undead and are still around)
  2. Ancient curse has fallen on the area. They left to avoid its effects.
  3. All inhabitants were killed by 1-2: goblins, 3-4: bandits, 5: undead, 6: mutants.
  4. They left to avoid the war.
  5. They were captured by a slavers.
  6. They joined the pilgrimage of followers of the Cthonic Gods.
  7. All inhabitants went insane and commited suicide.
  8. They left because famine plagued the land.
  9. All inhabitants were transformed into 1-2: ordinary undead, 3-4: werewolves or other zoanthropes, 5: mutated, hideous monsters, 6: vampires.
  10. They temporarily relocated to their hunting grounds / winter court / fortified stronghold.
